Hello! Love Potion #9 projects

Happy Thursday! A quick post featuring some projects I created for the Paper Bakery with the January Scrapbook kit Love Potion #9

Love You Layout

I used the free January cut file (included for subscribers) and duplicated the fun heart image to creat this fun background.  I added a few of my own wood pieces, and buttons.  The cork pieces are from The Paper Bakery December Times Square Scrapbook Kit and the sequins and washi tape are available in the shop.

Smile Layout:

I added some stamping, stitching around my photo and a few sequins.

Love Card:

I used the free January cut file to cut this heart out of the Crate paper vellum that comes with the kit.  I added a wood button from my own stash.

This kit was so fun to play with.  So many options!

Thanks so much for visiting! I will be back on the Paper Bakery blog next week with a fun tutorial.  Have a great day!

AC Topiary Tutorial

Hi there,

I had a tutorial on the American Crafts blog, yesterday showing how to make this easy topiary project using 6X6 paper pads from the Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party collection.

Paper Topiary project

"This fun topiary is easy to make and easy to change out for seasons. I chose papers
from the Polka Dot Party collection to dress up my room for spring."

To begin gather your desired papers and supplies. You will need at least
two punches for this project as well as papers, stick pins, buttons, a base
and a styrofoam ball.

Step 1: Punch your papers. For best results use a variety of paper patterns
and two different size punches. For example I used 1 round punch, and 1
flower punch.

Step 2: Crumple up punched pieces by gently folding and crinkling
to distress.

Step 3: Dress up punched shapes by adding ZAZZ glitter.

Step 4: Start layering your punched pieces together.

Step 5: Start creating your topiary by adhering your punched pieces
to the styrofoam ball with a stick pin.

Step 6: Continue this process until the styrofoam ball is filled.

Tip: For a fun look add punched glitter shapes, a variety of
buttons and sequins to a few pieces before pinning on.
When you are finished place the topiary on a base and enjoy!

I'll Be Yours...

Hi everyone,

I hope that you are having a good week so far, we are still trying to get over a nasty head cold in my house, but I think we have seen the worst of it already.  I Recently received the new CHA lines from American Crafts, and let me tell you - they are even more amazing in person!  I created this layout using the Dear Lizzy DayDreamer collection.

I'll Be Yours Layout

I started off this layout by creating the background that I cut from paper strips.  Then I sewed them down on American Crafts white cardstock.  After my background was in place I added fun embellishments from the Dear Lizzy DayDreamer collection and a few pieces from the DIY collection.

Since the background is busy, I tried to keep the embellishments simple and kept the main focus on the photo.  I also added in a few gold stars from Studio Calico's Atlantic collection and a handcut speech bubble from the My Girl collection.

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my layout.  I will have more to share soon :)

Ready for School

Hi Everyone,
I am sharing my very first Paper Bakery post with you.  I was given the January Love Potion #9 Scrapbook kit to play with this month.  I love the mix of pattern papers and embellishments in this kit.  They are great for Valentines day, as well as day to day events.  I decided to make my first layout about my niece who recently started preschool.  I started my layout by creating this fun background in Silhouette studio using different shaped speech bubbles, and then backed them with different pieces of pattern papers and embellishments from the kit.

Ready For School Layout

A quick way to add pizzazz to your layouts is to add stitching to them.  One of my favorite techniques is to add lots of hand stitching to my layouts using embroidery floss.  I used hand stitching as well as machine stitching on this layout.

Check back this month to see more projects made with Love Potion #9.

Thanks for stopping by today!

The Good Life

Hi everyone,

I finally had some time this weekend to sit down and play with Studio Calico's Printshop collection.  I know, I am way behind the times because this came out awhile ago, but some of the pieces I was waiting for were backordered.

Can, I just say I love this collection so much!  I am totally hooked on the colors and patterns.  I threw in some super awesome die cuts from The Paper Bakery Love Potion #9 Scrapbook kit and some flair and cork paper from American Crafts DIY Shop collection that just debuted at CHA.

I added in some stamping from Amy Tangerine's  Cut and Paste collection, and some messy stitching.
The messy stitching was an accident my sewing machine for some reason is going hay wire. lol

Sometimes I scrap more clean lined and sometimes I scrap more messily (if that makes sense).  I find that I can get more creative when it is more messy and add in more things like stamps and things that I otherwise forget about.  Do you always stick to a theme?  Or do you sometimes mix it up?  Do you find one way to be more freeing and more creative than the other?

Thanks for stopping by!  I will be back later this week with some more project reveals!

American Crafts January Gallery

Hi everyone!  I can't believe that January is more than halfway over already.  I had a lot of time this weekend while my best friend @SuzyWest was staying with me to crop and get projects completed.  I have a few layouts that I would like to share today for the American Crafts January Gallery. I am sooo in love with American Crafts glitter tape.  I could seriously go crazy with this stuff!  The more I play with it, the more I love it!

Love Being Together

I love this photo taken on Christmas Eve with my Father-in-Law and his 3 granddaughters .  I used the Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party collection and added in some glitter tape strips.  I backed my photo and diagonal strips with a fun heart Silhouette die cut background.

I created my second layout using the Amy Tangerine Cut and Paste collection.  While I had my glitter tape out I decided to make these fun pinwheels (that remind of fireworks) and they are perfect for a January New Years theme.  I used up a lot of paper strips, chipboard shapes and buttons.

Right Now Layout

This photo was taken this weekend of my good friend Suzy West and I.  She was teaching a class at one of our local scrapbook stores, and we got there early and were waiting for the store to open.  Love the silly expression!

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my January projects :)

Studio Calico crop layouts

Hi everyone,

I have a couple of layouts to share with you today.  Over the weekend I took part in the Studio Calico crop #SCCROP2014.

The first one that I made was for Challenge #2 color challenge by Carissa Wiley. Papers and embellishments are from Lily Bee Designs
We were asked to create a layout using Navy blue, green, light blue, pink and gold.  Here is what I came up with:

Always Layout

And the second layout that I created was for Challenge #8 digital/diecut challenge by Paige Taylor Evans. Papers and embellishments from Studio Calico Printshop collection from Shanna Noel.  I kept it simple on this one.

This is Real Life Layout
I enlarged this cut file and decided to put some playful pictures of my son behind it.  I thought it would be fun to add pops of color so I backed the word "Real" with yellow star paper and placed an angled strip of bright pink behind my title.

I love the look of the large die cut with the photos behind it.  That's it for today.  I'll be back later this week with some new layouts for The Paper Bakery.

Introduction day at The Paper Bakery

Hi everyone,

The last week has been a super busy one for me.  Mom was visiting from out of state, the kids were home on Christmas break and I wrapped up my temp job as a sales associate for Canon.  So, things are just starting to get back on schedule now.  I am about a week late in posting this, but if you haven't heard already... I made The Paper Bakery Design Team!

I will be working each month with their scrapbook kit, and I can't wait to get started.  I have an introduction post on their blog today if you want to check it out.
Have a great weekend everyone!
