Weekend Recap and More...

Wow, is it really the end of the week already?  How did it go by so fast.   This last week has been so busy for me that I just lost track of time.

Last Thursday I had two of my favorite peeps come to stay with me.  Michelle flew in from Southern California and Suzy drove up from the Bay area to spend the weekend with muah.  I am so thankful to have such good friends.  We always have the best time together and last weekend was no different.  We spent Friday and Saturday at Its all about the Scrapbook where we hosted a fun crop together and Suzy taught a fun class.  Then, on Sunday I took the girls to Old Sacramento where we did some shopping, dining and did a fun photo shoot:

Upon getting their we realized that my tripod was broken (I have a 14 year old daughter to thank for that).  So we had to improvise (thank goodness Suzy is an amazing photographer and she can run fast).

I had such a great time with my girls, I always enjoy their company.  They left on Monday, then I had to immerse myself in classes.  I am going back to work this Fall for Canon.  The marketing company that I used to work for contacted me about another job opening in my area.  It is not the same position as before, but luckily I still get to work with Canon and will be working hands on this time with their cameras.  The position is part time but will pick up to full time around the holidays, so I will not be blogging as regularly as I do now during November and December.

leaving on a train...but she'll be back again...

Another fun crafting weekend went by fast. My good friend Suzy West came to stay with me over the past few days. Suzy lives about 2 hours away and takes the train to come visit me about once a month. I can say that I am a pretty lucky gal to have her in my life and cherish all the fun times that we have together. On Tuesday we went out to lunch with our good friend Tricia Wilson. Here is a photo of the 3 of us at Chik fil a (Suzy's favorite spot):

so fun! We even hugged the Chik fil a cow :)

One thing that I love about Suzy's visits is that we always get tons of projects done.
I haven't finished photographing these yet and we have had gloomy windy weather, so I am just going to share a sneak of what I created using Ruby Rock-it papers.

from the paper doll collection:

from the Nostalgia collection:

That's it for now, I am sad that I had to drop off my dear friend at the train station today, but I know that she will be back again soon. She never stays away very long. hehe
I will post full photos of my projects as soon as the weather brightens up a bit.
Thanks for stopping by!

more fun photos

as promised, I am back with more fun photos.

A couple weeks ago, I went with my good friend Suzy West, her daughter Sierra, and my kids to Great America.

Here a few of the pics that I took there:

Sierra, Kalee and Matt

Suzy and I with Snoopy

had to get a photo of myself with the kids in front of the giant carousel

these are just a few shots that we took here. Great America was so fun, the kids had a blast!

During Suzy's stay with us we decided to spend a day in Old Sacramento. While we were there we took the kids to an old fashioned schoolhouse where they got to learn what it was like to go to school in the 1800's:

no computers or laptops here. lol

Doesn't Matthew look like he is having a blast? lol

we stopped for awhile in a fun candy store:

the guy behind the counter dared Matthew to try a chocolate covered cricket.

I don't think Matthew really believed him at first.

The look on his face when he bit into it was priceless.

I didn't get a good picture afterwards. He was to busy gagging. He said it was crunchy and gross. Hiliarious!

After all the excitement of the candy store wore off....

we drove down the street a little bit to visit our state capitol:

Sierra was so excited to take pictures
We had a great time visiting there and learning about State History.

I hope you enjoyed our vacation pictures. I have been busy printing them off and scrapping with them. I will post a few
pictures of some fun projects tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by!

One for Monday...

Well it looks like the stomach flu hit our house. Kalee is home sick today and I have been very busy between taking care of her and cleaning the carpet. Not sure why kids never seem to make it to the bathroom on time when they get sick, but it makes me very glad that we invested in a carpet shampooer a few years ago.

Here is a fun layout that I created over the weekend before the flu hit our house.
It is a photo of me with my good friend Suzy West. I used the Domestic Bliss line (Lily Bee), mixed in with 1 page from the Christmas Town line for this layout.
I made those fun flowers on the page using a tutorial that I got off of the the Lily Bee blog So fun!

That's it for today. I am off for round 3 of shampooing the carpet. Wish me luck!
Thanks for looking!

GCD studios contest and some new projects

Happy Friday everyone! I want to make sure that you all know about an awesome contest that is going on over at GCD studios.
Rules:
1) create a project (it can be anything you want), but keep the theme "spring" in mind.
2) You must use the chipart tool on it somehow (if you don't have it, it can be found in many stores)
3) submit your projects to: Chipart_contest@gcdstudios.com

and here is the prize for our Spring Spin off Contest with Fiskars.
The value is over $200 in punches, paper, Chipart tool, trimmers and much more :)

This contest is going on now til April 1st. For a list of where to find the chip art tool and pictures of the awesome prize packages
go to the GCD studios blog.

Secondly, I wanted to share some recent projects that I made with the Sew easy line from My little Shoebox

First is a project that I created of my niece Sophia using the Punky playground corrugated cardboard from Punky Sprouts and a fun heart button and 1 inch round epoxy from Epiphany Crafts. I also sprayed a doilly with tattered angels spray. So much fun!
Such a Doll:

Second, I created a fun layout of me with my amazing scrap friends - Tricia Wilson, Sarah de Guzman, and Suzy West.
They really are 'sew cute' and I treasure their friendships immensely.
Sew Cute:

I used an actual sewing pattern on the layout to make the fun circles, then used foam tape underneath the sewing stickers to make them pop. What do you think?

Next up is a fun and easy card that I made:
Adore U:

And the last project that I have to share with you today is a fun layout that I did of myself (gasp). I rarely feature myself in a layout but I thought that the paper was perfect for these fun photos that my dear friend Suzy West took of me when we were playing around one day.
Laugh, smile, scrapbook, repeat...

Thanks for looking! Have a fabulous weekend!
