Altered Pinwheel Project

Hi Everyone,

I'm back today sharing another project made for The Paper Bakery using their April Train Station Scrapbook Kit. You can really stretch this kit and get so many wonderful projects out of it!

Pinwheels Project Tutorial

To create my pinwheels for this project, I first started by cutting out 3 squares.  Then I used my scissors to cut diagonal slits in all four corners.

Next, I used a hole punch to punch 5 holes.  One for each corner and one for the middle of the  pinwheel.

Next, fold in each corner and line up the punched holes.  Use a brad to pin them in place.

Now you are ready to embellish your pinwheels.  I used a small circle punch to punch 3 small circles.  With adhesive, adhere

them to the center of your pinwheels and embellish with Maya Road sparkle resin flowers (included in kit).  Use strong adhesive (I used Zots) to adhere a straw onto the back of each pinwheel.  Now, your pinwheels are done and ready to display.

After creating my pinwheels, I thought that it would be fun to embellish a small jar to display them in.  I decided to use a glass ball jar and jute twine for this.

Using liquid adhesive, adhere one end of your jute twine to the lower bottom side of jar, and start wrapping around.  I used liquid adhesive around each wrap to make sure that my twine would stay in place.

Continue wrapping around until you get your desired look.  Trim off any excess and glue the end down.  

Now, you are all finished and ready to display.  These make fun party decorations and can be used to also dress up your house.

April Train Station projects with The Paper Bakery

Hi Everyone,

Good Morning, and I hope that your month is off to a good start.  I have two projects to share with you today for The Paper Bakery using the April Train Station Scrapbook Kit .

I love the mix of colors and patterns in this kit, and did you notice the exclusive Midnight Blue/Gold alphas from Pinkfresh Studio?  Hello cuteness!  I just knew that I needed to use them right away on a project.

Hello Card

For my first project with the kit I created this simple card.  I went for a simple angled design.  I love how those alphas just stand out.

I also added some Studio Calico opaque gems (included in the kit).  I love that they look like miniature disco balls and when they catch the light just right, they really sparkle.

Everyday Moments Layout

For my second project I created a layout using the exclusive “Star” Die Cut paper included in the kit.  I backed 3 of the stars with other small pieces of pattern papers from the kit, added some messy stitching, stickers, a title and gems and I was finished.

I love how easily this layout came together because of that fun die cut paper!

Getting the most out of your kits using paper strips

Hi everyone!  Good morning!

I have a post up on the Paper Bakery Blog today to share with you one of my favorite techniques for using up leftovers from my kits.  For the following projects I used extras I had leftover from the March SCRAPBOOK kit called Daylight Savings!

When I really want to stretch my kit I use leftover punched pieces that I may have from a prior project and paper strips.  Using paper strips to create a visual design is a great way to use up your kit.  To create my first layout I layered several paper strips together in a horizontal fashion along the right side of my layout.

 Family Forever and Ever Layout

I used paper strips in different lengths and widths and layered them together.

Because I had so much going on on the right side, I kept the left side of my layout minimal so that the layout would not seem too cluttered.  It is always a good rule when working with several patterns to allow your layout to have ‘white space’.

To finish off my layout and frame my photo I used a few punched star pieces that I had leftover from another project.

For my second project I cut a chevron background file using my Silhouette Cameo and then backed several pieces with paper strips

in a diagonal fashion.

I used a variety of pattern papers but also left some pieces of my design empty to allow the background cardstock to show through.

I added some journaling below my photo and also tucked behind on a small shipping tag.  I embellished my layout using

a fun combination of wood veneers and chipboard pieces included in the kit.

Daylight Savings Projects

Hi there, I have some projects up on the The Paper Bakery Blog today that I would like to share with you.  I made these layouts with the new  March Daylight Savings Scrapbook Kit.

The Good Life Layout

I love the triangle trend that is so popular right now.  I often use triangles on my layouts.  To create this layout I started by printing a large photo of my dog.  This photo always makes me smile, I love how happy she looked when we were out for a walk one day and we let her off her leash. I backed the large photo with cardstock and then punched out several triangle shapes and stitched them down. 

 I love the fun embellishments that are included in the Daylight Savings Scrapbook Kit.  I added some enamel hearts and chipboard heart to my photo and a wood veneer arrow underneath.  I dug in to my Paper Bakery supply stash to add a geotag flair from the You've Been GeoTagged set.

You Right Now Layout

I  started out my layout by cutting a triangle background with my Silhouette Cameo, then I backed several of the shapes with pieces of pattern paper from the kit.  I added a few fun wood veneer pieces from the March Daylight Savings Card Kit and Aztec Inspired Wood Veneer set, and flair from the December Times Square  Card Kit.

To finish off the layout I added a few sequins, paper clip and some light journaling.  This layout was so fun to make and came together quickly.  I love the mix of pattern papers that are included in this kit, they coordinate well when combined together.   Such a fun kit to play with!

Happy Together Layout

Heart Confetti mini album

Hi,

Good morning.  Today and I am going to show you how to make this simple heart confetti pocket mini album using the January Love Potion #9 Scrapbook kit, from the Paper Bakery.



Gather up any left over scraps that you may have from your January Love Potion #9 Scrapbook kit, ephemera pieces, small confetti type punches, sequins and transparency paper (vellum paper works great for this too)!



Using your punches make confetti out of left over scraps that you have from your kit.



Open up the Paper Bakery January cut file in your Silhouette software program.



I decided that I wanted to make my book using the heart file that is included in the cut file.  Delete all other shapes and enlarge the heart.  Using the cut tool remove the inside of the heart.





Duplicate the heart shape and run it through your Silhouette.  I cut my pockets out of transparency paper but you can use vellum for this too.





Place the two pieces together and use a sewing machine to stitch up the sides.  Leave an open space towards the top to drop in your confetti and sequins.



After filling your heart shapes up with confetti and sequins,  use your sewing machine to stitch the of the heart up.



Using a hole punch, punch through your heart page and add a jump ring.  Add additional pages and ephemera pages to complete your album.
