Detail shot *Tip- I added dimension to my page by trimming a few pattern paper shapes out
and then layer them on top with 3d foam squares.

Thanks to my good friend Ashley for letting me use some of her air mail twine from Divine Twine. I had fun adding a thin layer of glue and wrapping my twine around my journaling to create a fun journaling spot!

more fun photos

as promised, I am back with more fun photos.

A couple weeks ago, I went with my good friend Suzy West, her daughter Sierra, and my kids to Great America.

Here a few of the pics that I took there:

these are just a few shots that we took here. Great America was so fun, the kids had a blast!

During Suzy's stay with us we decided to spend a day in Old Sacramento. While we were there we took the kids to an old fashioned schoolhouse where they got to learn what it was like to go to school in the 1800's:



no computers or laptops here. lol

we stopped for awhile in a fun candy store:





the guy behind the counter dared Matthew to try a chocolate covered cricket.


I don't think Matthew really believed him at first.


The look on his face when he bit into it was priceless.

I didn't get a good picture afterwards. He was to busy gagging. He said it was crunchy and gross. Hiliarious!

After all the excitement of the candy store wore off....

we drove down the street a little bit to visit our state capitol:

We recently had my good friend Suzy West and her daughter Sierra stay with us. Sierra and my daughter Kalee had the best time laughing, playing and getting to know each other. After their first time visiting us (in early July) we decided that we needed to plan more 'mini vacations' with the kids while they are out of school for the summer.

Here are some fun things that we did together this past month.

Tricia Wilson joined us for lunch and it was Tricia and Suzy's first time trying a pizookie too.



Afterwards, we went antique shopping in old Elk Grove and did a spontaneous photo shoot

These are just a few of the pics that we took during Suzy's stay with us (that started out as just a couple of days and then turned into a whole month, but who is counting, lol) We also had many more adventures including crafting with our some of our favorite friends Marie Ramirez, and Ashley N. Newell, and Tricia Wilson. I am bummed that we didn't take any photos crafting together- but hopefully next time :)

Halloween in August is Glowing....

with Authentique's new Halloween collection!

Hi friends, I am here to show you some fun altered Halloween projects that I created using the new Glowing line from Authentique. I wanted to make a home decor project that would really show off their product.

Here is what I came up with:
An altered shadow box frame and a topiary



To create the shadow box frame I started with their Newsprint paper as my background and then handcut a spooky haunted house using their music notes and brocade paper and adding tabs from their tabloids paper. Did you notice all the details on the house? I added foam tape, ruler tape, moss and inked it to age a bit.



I also added a picket fence, wood sticks, photos and a fun banner cut from their Harlequin patches paper.


I really love the ending result!

For the second part of my project I created a topiary. And I have fun step by step tutorial to show you how to recreate this project.

To begin gather your desired papers and supplies. You will need atleast two punches for this project as well as stick pins, buttons, ink, a base and a styrofoam ball.


Step 1: punch your papers

for best results use a variety of paper patterns and two different size punches. For example I used 1 round punch, and 1 flower punch.





Step 2: ink and distress the edges

I used 2 different inks for this step - Pumpkin Spice and Charcoal from Colorbox. But you can use whatever ink you have on hand. Ink the edges of each punched piece, then gently fold and crinkle edges to distress.



Step 3: start creating your topiary by piecing 2 of your punched pieces together and adding a button.



Then place on styrofoam ball with a stick pin.



continue this process until the styrofoam ball is filled.

For a fun look add shaped die cuts to a few pieces before pinning on (Authentique's noteables die cuts are perfect for this).

When you are finished place the topiary on a base and enjoy!

CHA card

Hi Everyone, hope that you are having a great weekend. Mine has been mellow, so far (just the way I like it). I went out to lunch with my friend and neighbor Ashley today, then we stopped by a local scrapbook store to stock up on some supplies. We will be getting together soon to craft. I plan on spending the rest of the night with the family. We are going to go to a free summer movie event with friends tonight. We are going to bring pillows, and blankets and of course popcorn!

I wanted to share with you a recent card that I made for CHA Summer. I made this card for Epiphany Crafts and I am proud to say they displayed it in their booth. Did you go to CHA summer? If so, did you stop by their booth? Their booth is always so creative and cute!

I made this card using Epiphany Craft's heart shaped button studio tool, and 7 of their heart shaped acrylic buttons. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches and the papers are from a recent Scarlet Lime kit that I received.
