Illustrated Faith | Believe

This is a personal blog.  All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of  http://www.illustratedfaith.com/  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Illustrated Faith to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

Hiya friends!  I had a post on the Illustrated Faith blog this week sharing how to create a pocket page within your devotional.

"Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!"  Luke 1:45 NIV.  In this verse Mary believed what the angel had spoke to her.  She was blessed not only in the act of believing, but because her promise would certainly be fulfilled.  In your personal walk with the Lord are you listening to his voice and believing in his promises?

Creating a pocket within your advent journal

If you're like me, you have a love for pockets and extra spaces to keep tags, notes and special reminders.  I decided to create my own handmade pocket within my advent journal.  First, start by measuring the dimensions of your pages.  Next, take your desired patterned paper and fold it in half (making sure that both sides will fit into the measurement of your book).  Use your paper trimmer or scissors to cut off excess paper.

Trim a second piece of patterned paper into a small strip and adhere to the top of your folded pocket page.

Use a sewing machine and white thread to stitch all three sides of the pocket page, left, bottom and right (being sure to keep the top portion open).  Stitch page directly into book.

Place tags, paper clips and other notes and memorabilia into your stitched pocket page and enjoy!

Illustrated Faith | Gratitude & Grace

This is a personal blog.  All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of  http://www.illustratedfaith.com/  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Illustrated Faith to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

Hey friends, I have another post to share with you today for Illustrated Faith.  Today I’m hoping to encourage some of you to break out the paints and just have fun with it while worshiping the Lord!  I have always loved painting and find that there is something real and raw about diving into your art while worshiping the Lord.  In the morning I have quiet time after I have taken the kids to school, and I like to dive into my devotionals and break out the paints.
You might be hesitant to get started at first.  Let go of any fear that you might have getting started.  There is no right way when it comes to art.  Just pick up your paint brush and let your heart flow!
To start my pages I started painting paint marks on a scratch piece of paper, that I already pre-measured to fit within my Gratitude Documented journal. I chose green and aqua paints to start and just made small brush marks across both pages.

Next I added in magenta pink and gold oxide colors across my pages.
After I had painted in each color, I went back to my pages and made more swipes to try to fill up most of the empty space.

Next, I adhered my scratch piece of paper into my gratitude journal and added a few more swipes of paint around the “gratitude” and “grace” prompts.
After my background was complete, I started building my page.  I stamped the “Wow God” stamp onto a scratch piece of cardstock and then adhered it to my “grace” page using washi tape.  I chose the “Wow God” stamp because when I think of God’s love and for me, it is amazing.  When I think of grace I think of the song by Chris Tomlin “Your Grace Is Enough”, I journaled some versus from the song on the backside of my “Wow God” card.
Before adhering it into my journal.
On my Gratitude page I added some big stickers and hand painted flowers and wordfetti stickers to finish off the page.  I love that Natalie encouraged you all to “just be yourself” in her recent process video, and I would like to do the same.  I hope you join me in finding your own unique way to praise the Lord through your art

Scrapbook Circle | Design Team Choice

Hi there!  I have another new layout to share with you today using the Scrapbook Circle's October Mix Tape kit and Add-ons.

September 27th, was a memorable night.  We experienced a blood moon and solar eclipse.  I took my trusty Canon 6D out for a walk and decided to shoot the moon.  I chose my favorite photo from the shoot and decided to document it on my layout using the Mix Tape kit and add-ons.

I love using geometric shapes on layouts.  To create the background for this layout I trimmed several pieces of the patterned papers included in the main kit into squares and rectangle shapes and then adhered them to a white cardstock background.  I used my sewing machine to stitch down a few of pieces.  Then I added in extra embellishments from both of the add-on kits.

Scrapbook Circle | One Item Wonder

Hi Everyone,

I'm sharing a layout that I made today for Scrapbook Circle using their November kit: Little Moments.  For our One Item Wonder assignment this month we were asked to create a page focusing on the Bella Blvd. sticker sheet included in the kit.

I kept the overall design simple and used large chevrons on the right side of my page as a design element.  I used the Bella Blvd.  sticker sheet to create my title.  I used several of the caption words (included in the sticker sheet) as a way to document and describe my photo.  I also added in a few other stickers from the sheet (blue star & November arrow).  I used both November add-ons on this page (Sweetness and Home Sweet Home).

I really enjoyed working with the November kit this month.  To get yours, stop by the Scrapbook Circle store.

Hello Happiness

Hi Everyone,
I hope you are enjoying your week.  I have a layout up on the Bella Blvd blog today that I would like to share with you using this sketch that was given to us.

I have loved being a part of the Bella Blvd team this year, it is hard to believe this is going to be my last assignment for the term.  I wanted to end the year with a sweet and cheerful layout about friendship. The Snapshots collection worked beautifully with the sketch that was given to us.  I stuck with the three main vertical columns in the sketch but incorporated bigger boxes so that I could use 4x6 photos.  I also used the daily details cards, I love the way they complete the layout.

You Ampersand Me

Hi there!

I have a fun project to share with you today for Bella Blvd  using this fun Pinterest Inspiration image:

You Ampersand Me Layout

I had so much fun using this pinterest inspired image.  I took the idea from the image to use 3 items (2 photos and a title)
in a vertical line.  By keeping my 3 focal images in a line and using limited embellishments, I found that it gave my
layout a very clean and linear look and kept the focus on my photos.  The Daily Chevies papers were the perfect way to
showcase these special photos that I took of my kids at the park having a brother-sister moment.

supplies:
Christmas Countdown: City Sidewalks
Daily Chevies: Chevy Oreo, Chevy Peep, Chevy Carrot
Die Cut Shapes: Paper Pieces Trick Or Treat
Crochet Hearts: McIntosh Hearts

Live Laugh & Let it Be

Hi Friends,

Are you ready for a Pinterest inspired post?  Some of the girls at Bella Blvd were recently given this image (found on Pinterest) and asked to create a layout or a card with it.  I took inspiration from all the colors and the gold circular dots.

Using this image here is what I came up with:

Live Laugh and Let it Be

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut feathers out of vellum paper and embellished them with enamel
dots and gold confetti pieces before layering them with Bella Blvd Saltwater and Oreo-Black feathers.  I love the look combined with the Snapshots collection.  It is so playful and fun just like the teen girls in my photo.

Supplies:
Snapshots: Hurry Up!, Borders Snapshots, Daily Details Snapshots
Trick Or Treat: Leaf Storm
Cardstock Stickers: Alpha + Bits Trick Or Treat, Captions Trick Or Treat, Captions Snapshots
Feathers: Oreo-Black, Saltwater
Crochet Hearts: Saltwater

Life Paper Scrapbook August Color Challenge

Hi Everyone!

Today we have the August Colour Challenge for you over at
Life Paper Scrapbook and some of the super talented ladies from the team are sharing their take on the challenge.

This was such a fun challenge to play along with.  I not only took inspiration from the colors but also by the stripes on the arm warmers.

Loved Layout
I punched out all these squares with a punch and then lined them up on my page. There was 64 squares total and the process probably would have been a lot faster if I hadn't gone through the painstaking detail to make sure all of the patterns on the squares lined up.

I folded each square in half and popped some of them up with foam squares.

supplies:
pattern papers: Bella Blvd
cardstock: black, white (American Crafts)
glitter cardstock: gold, silver (American Crafts)
feathers: Bella Blvd
crochet heart: Scallop (Bella Blvd)
cork stickers, die cuts (Studio Calico)
other: sequins

This month's color sponsor is American Crafts

hop on over to the Life Paper Scrapbook blog and play along with this month's color challenge and you will be entered to win an Amy Tangerine prize pack.

Monday Morning Challenge: Focus on the square

Hi there!  I hope your Monday is off to a great start.  I just dropped my son off for his first day of school.  I am excited for him and a little sad that this will be his last year in elementary school (6th grade).  It sure goes fast.

I have a fun layout to share with you today.  I am taking part in the Monday Morning challenge over on the Bella Blvd blog today.  Our challenge was to focus on squares, whether it be square elements, square photos, or square embellishments or a combination of them all.

Here is what I made for the challenge:

Hello Beach Layout

The new Snapshots collection by Bella Blvd was perfect for my recent photos that I took of the kids at Santa Cruz beach. When I first started this assignment, I laid out several small Instagram photos spread all over my page. This layout took on several changes and I ultimately decided to go for a cleaner look with 1 large focal point photo and a two smaller Instagram photos.  For a fun look I added text to my photos before printing them and added a cardstock polaroid die-cut from the Snapshots collection to my large photo.

 Supplies:
Snapshots: Daily Details, Pajama Day, Free Time, Hurry Up, Rise & Shine, Tabs, Paper Pieces; Daily Chevies: Gulf Arrows, Pickle Juice Arrows; Feathers: Bell Pepper, Ice; Button Market: Fruit Punch, Masculine Mix
