Pink Paislee | Mixed Media

Hi everyone, welcome! This week on the Pink Paislee blog we are sharing mixed media projects! To start you off, I'm sharing how my mixed media layout came to life.

Mixed Media #ppfancyfree | @gina_lideros for @pinkpaislee

First, I started by cutting out this bird background with my Silhouette Cameo (cut file by Paige Evans for Studio Calico). Next, I used a combination of my favorite watercolor confections tropical paints  and watercolor confections the classics paints from Prima and painted some of the background birds. I purposefully left several of them white to allow for white balance.

Next, I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut some birds out of different patterned papers from the Fancy Free collection. I adhered them to my cut file background and set aside. Next, I painted a watercolor background on white cardstock. Once my background was dry, I adhered the bird cut file background.

To embellish my layout, I started by adding droplets of white paint against my background then I added my photo and embellishments from the Fancy Free collection.

Pink Paislee | Adding Watercolors To Paige Kits

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of http://canoncreativegirl.blogspot.com/.  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Pink Paislee to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

Hi everyone I'm excited to share a special layout with you today using the Paige kits from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free collection.  The Paige kits in the Fancy Free collection are a great way to create a fun layout in little time.

Paige Kits #ppfancyfree | @gina_lideros for @pinkpaislee

I loved the die cut paper in the Geo Paige kit.  I decided that I wanted to brighten up my page and add to it by placing watercolors behind the die cut paper.  To do this, I painted watercolors onto watercolor paper and set aside to dry.

Paige Kits #ppfancyfree | @gina_lideros for @pinkpaislee

Once dry, I cut the watercolors into small pieces and placed behind my die cut paper.  I specifically chose colors that would coordinate with the Fancy Free collection.

Once, the watercolor pieces were in place.  I swapped out the background paper that came with the kit, and used a brightly colored paper (#12) from the collection instead.  I love that this paper, adds to the watercolor effect.

Next, I added my photo, some embellishments from the Geo Paige kit, and I combined them with other embellishments from the collection.

I hope that you have enjoyed my take on the Paige kit today and that I have inspired you to create with your own.

Illustrated Faith | Believe

This is a personal blog.  All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of  http://www.illustratedfaith.com/  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Illustrated Faith to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

Hiya friends!  I had a post on the Illustrated Faith blog this week sharing how to create a pocket page within your devotional.

"Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!"  Luke 1:45 NIV.  In this verse Mary believed what the angel had spoke to her.  She was blessed not only in the act of believing, but because her promise would certainly be fulfilled.  In your personal walk with the Lord are you listening to his voice and believing in his promises?

Creating a pocket within your advent journal

If you're like me, you have a love for pockets and extra spaces to keep tags, notes and special reminders.  I decided to create my own handmade pocket within my advent journal.  First, start by measuring the dimensions of your pages.  Next, take your desired patterned paper and fold it in half (making sure that both sides will fit into the measurement of your book).  Use your paper trimmer or scissors to cut off excess paper.

Trim a second piece of patterned paper into a small strip and adhere to the top of your folded pocket page.

Use a sewing machine and white thread to stitch all three sides of the pocket page, left, bottom and right (being sure to keep the top portion open).  Stitch page directly into book.

Place tags, paper clips and other notes and memorabilia into your stitched pocket page and enjoy!

Flick black spray mist across the page and set aside to dry.  Print a small black and white photo measuring 2.7"x2.7" back it with a slightly larger piece of cut specialty Die-Cut Scout paper and adhere down to left bottom side of layout.  Adhere a white foam "xo" sticker on top.  Use a date stamp to stamp date below the bottom left side of photo.  Place a die cut piece from cardstock & acetate shapes pack just above photo (tucking it slightly behind).  Place a stamped mylar flair embossed gold sticker right next to die cut.  On the bottom right hand side of page adhere a torn strip of washi tape.  Place a transparent sticker just above washi tape.  Adhere a small arrow sticker from grab bag just above.  Apply adhesive to the back of a wood slice.  Embellish wood slice with ampersand and camera puffy sticker and then adhere to the bottom right hand side of page.  Place a transparent arrow sticker just above.  Use a needle and white thread to handstitch around the words "like" and "love" in the title.  Finish page by adhering a large transparent floral sticker to the top right hand side of page.

I hope that I have inspired you to create your own creative title!

Scrapbook Circle | Ampersands

Inspired by the ampersand die cuts you will find in the Love It add-on and This Way add-on this month at Scrapbook Circle, I created my page based around these cute little symbols.  I used papers from the April Let's Do This kit combined with my Silhouette to cut my own ampersands out of patterned paper, and then paired them with the die cuts that I got in my add-on kits.

They are so trendy and fun!  I also added drops of watercolor paint and distress paint across my page to add color.  I added a few stickers, sequins and machine stitching and boom, my layout was done!

The Cut Shoppe | Dream Big

I'm super excited to share this new layout with you today for The Cut Shoppe.  Have you seen the brand new I Heart String Art cut file set in the shop?  The 5 files (cloud, house, star, heart and arrow) make great embellishments for your layouts, cut just the way they are.  But, you can also use them as templates to create your own string art, as I did on my layout today.

To create my string art layout I used the I Heart String Art cut file as a template.  I enlarged the arrow shape and then cut it out with my Silhouette.  I placed the template over my background paper and then used a hole piercer to poke holes.  After all of my holes had been pierced I began to string the design with black embroidery thread.  I used my template as a visual guide so I would know where to thread each string.  I used the same template to make three arrows.  After my string art design was complete, I finished my page, by adding my photo and embellishments.  I love the look of the three bold arrows.  Super easy and makes a great impact!

Supplies: The Cut Shoppe: cut file; Fancy Pants: Ephemera Pack, Insta Pack; Dear Lizzy Serendipity: Watercolor words, Thickers; Felicity Jane: Patterned Paper; Other: Embroidery Thread, watercolors, paint, spray mist
