Pink Paislee | Memory Keeping

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of http://canoncreativegirl.blogspot.com/.  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Pink Paislee to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

Hi everyone, I have a new Pink Paislee project to share with you today.  When I think of memory keeping I think of photos.  And it brings me back to why I first started scrapbooking – to document and remember special days and events.  So, with that in mind, I decided to keep my design simple, so that the main focus was the photo.

Recently my daughter and her friend went on a photoshoot.  They are both learning about photography and took turns taking photos.  Her friend is currently taking a  photography and editing class and took several photos for an assignment.  On this day, I let the girls borrow one of my most cherished photo lenses a Canon 85mm, and they took photos at an old train station.  I was so impressed with their talent and the quality of the photos!  I just knew that I had to document it on a page!

Ever since I saw the triangular Memo paper in the Memorandum collection, I just knew that I needed to use it on a layout.  I love triangles and I love color!  So, it is almost like this paper was designed just for me!  I knew that if I was using several pieces from this paper that I wouldn’t need too many other elements or embellishments on the design, or it might overwhelm the page.  So, I kept it simple!

I decided to hand cut around the Memo paper triangles to make several large and small triangles throughout the page.  The simple design of the paper made it easy to cut around.  I also added a handcut piece of journal paper (b side), to help balance out the design.

Pink Paislee | Memory Dex

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of http://canoncreativegirl.blogspot.com/.  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Pink Paislee to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

Hi there!  I don't know about you, but the Heidi Swapp Memorydex has quickly become a staple in our household for documenting every day photos and events!

I love the Heidi Swapp Memorydex dies,  they make it easy to trim your own photos and designs to fit the Memorydex.

I used pieces from the Heidi Swapp Wanderlust collection and the Memorydex collection to help my own personal cards come to life.

I added in new cards from the Pink Paislee Memorandum collection, and added in a few thickers from the from the Citrus Bliss and Atlas collections to help me tell my story.

I hand trimmed several papers from the Memorandum collection and used the HS Memorydex dies to punch my cards.  I love that there are so many Thickers and Puffy stickers for me to choose from to help bring my cards to life. I also embellished my cards with washi tape.

I used the Heidi Swapp Memorydex punch to trim my photos to fit within the display, and tell my story.  I love the camera shaped paper clips included in the office supply set.  I also used labels from the set to embellish my cards.

I hand trimmed a couple of papers from the Memorandum collection to become cards for my display.  I used the Heidi Swapp Memorydex  punch to turn these photos into one of a kind memories.

I finished up my last card  by using a Heidi Swapp die "happy" and thickers from the Pink Paislee Atlas collection, I love how the card came out.  I left the frame below empty so that I could add a photo in later on.

Pink Paislee | Memory Notebook

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of http://canoncreativegirl.blogspot.com/.  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Pink Paislee to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

When I first saw the Memorandum Memory Notebook by Pink Paislee I immediately fell in love and just couldn't wait to get started!  As a busy mom of two, anything that makes my life easier and helps keep track of my schedule is a plus!  I love the design of the notebook.  It is so easy to customize and style to fit your needs.
I use it to write down my schedule, goals, and important dates, that I need to remember throughout the month.

As activities happen, I snap photos and use my notebook as a way to document the event.  This has been a great way for me to keep track of places that we went to, and add some simple journaling.

I love the paper clips and die-cut tabs included in the office supplies pack.  They really added to my pages and helped bring them together.  Another favorite of mine are the cardstock photo frames with gold details.  I could not get enough of these, I used them throughout my notebook.

I wanted to add in an extra insert into my notebook and was so inspired by my fellow creative team member Raquel, that I decided to create my own out of the clear acetate paper with gold paper clips. Want to learn how?  Follow the steps laid out in her blog post to learn how to do this.

I also used Raquel's technique to add the love memory folder to my notebook.  It holds important notes about our recent trip to a family festival.

To create my last two pages, I first started by cutting out the "You Were Born To Be Amazing" quote from the gallery prints pack.  I wanted to place it near my daughters photo to remind her to be amazing.  I finished by adding a simple frame, washi strips and Heidi Swapp Coral Color Shine.

Overall, I just love how it all came together, and cannot wait to document more fun events!

Pink Paislee | Pattern Piecing

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of http://canoncreativegirl.blogspot.com/.  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Pink Paislee to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

Good morning!  Today on the Pink Paislee blog I am sharing  just one of the many ideas for using the Memorandum collection on a scrapbook page.  Memorandum is quickly becoming one of my new favorite collections to work with.  The patterns and embellishments go together so effortlessly.  I gathered together some of my favorite papers from the collection and embellishments.

I also added in some Mister Huey's black spray mist and some lovely gold foam Thickers from the Citrus Bliss collection.

One of my favorite techniques to do on a layout is pattern piecing.  To create this layout I first cut the Desktop Patterned Paper using a background cut file, then chose other papers from the collection to piece behind the open spaces before adhering it all down to a piece of white cardstock.

I get asked all the time what kind of adhesive I like to use when working with cut files and pattern piecing.  I like to use the American Crafts Sticky Thumb brand liquid pva glue.  It has a twist tip on it that allows me to place adhesive down in small areas.  Here is a closeup of my layout after I adhered everything down.

Pink Paislee | Clip It Up!

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of http://canoncreativegirl.blogspot.com/.  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Pink Paislee to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

Hello Everyone!  This week we are sharing special ways to Clip it up, using the Memorandum collection on the Pink Paislee blog.  I am so excited about this collection!  Not only is it fun and super trendy, it is also perfect for keeping you organized!

When I saw the gold clipboard included in the Memorandum collection, I gasped!  I love gold, and knew that it would make the perfect addition to my office.  I decided to use the clipboard as a way to clip together notes and plans.
I used the "today" folder, included in the mini file pack, and adhered it to my clipboard as a way to keep track of things.  I cut several small cards from the Memorandum punch card patterned paper to fit inside my folder.
I created a simple banner for my clipboard by cutting out triangles from the Memorandum memo patterned paper and then used my sewing machine to stitch them together into a banner.

The washi tape strips included in the washi tape pack made the perfect simple embellishment to add to my note cards.
I hope that you enjoyed my post today, and that it inspires you to clip up your own ideas!!

Pink Paislee | Back To School

This is a personal blog. All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of http://canoncreativegirl.blogspot.com/.  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Pink Paislee to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

I have a tutorial up on the Pink Paislee blog today, that I can't wait to share with you!

Is it really time for Back To School already?  The Summer went by so fast!  My kids actually head back to school this week!  This mason jar desk organizer will be perfect for getting organized this year.  Using the Memorandum collection you can turn a couple of jars into a desk organizer!

Supplies for this mason jar desk organizer:

  • Serving Tray
  • Two mason jars  (you need ones with at least one side that is smooth)
  • Acrylic paint in your choice of colors ( I used Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Satin Summer Haze)
  • Acrylic paint in your choice of colors (I used Martha Stewart Decor Paint in Matte Chalkboard Finish)
  • Painter's Tape or other tape (I used washi tape for mine)
  • Regular chalk
  • Paint brush

Start by painting the mason jars with your paint of choice.  I used the black Martha Stewart Vintage Decor Paint in Matte Chalkboard Finish and and  Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Satin Summer Haze acrylic paint.  Please wait for the paint to fully dry before adding any additional coats.  Then mask off a little over half of your jars for painting.  Keep your line straight at the top for this step.  To get the location of the line, be sure there will be plenty of chalk above your line when the jars are located in the tray.  As you can see below, my jars have one smooth side with no writing.  This is important for this project.  I specifically chose jars that had a smooth side.

Once the tops of your jars have been painted, remove the tape.  Allow the area to cure completely then add the tape so you can paint the bottom of the jar.   Add two coats of chalkboard paint to the jars.  Be sure you paint one vertical and one horizontal.  Allow to dry in between coats as well.  Remove the  tape at the end of this step.  Touch up the line in between colors if you need to.

Once everything is dry, be sure to let all of the products cure according to the package directions.  You will need to condition all chalkboard surfaces by rubbing them with the side of a piece of chalk and then erasing.  You can then write anything you wish with a chalk, a chalk marker or letter stickers. I started to write "pens" and "pencils with a chalk marker and then didn't like the way my writing looked, so I erased them and replaced them white letter stickers from the Memorandum collection.  I love how crisp and clean the letter stickers make them look.  Throw in some pens, pencils, markers, and more to help keep the kids organized or give as a gift to your favorite teacher.

I also made this small little easel for the desk area.  Using the paper clips from the Memorandum collection I can clip on a cute little message for my kids!

Supplies for the Art Easel:

  • Chalkboard Easel Album ( I purchased mine at Michael's)  4.7 "x 7"
  • Pink Paislee Memorandum Snapshots Paper
  • Pink Paislee Memorandum Cubicle Paper
  • Pink Paislee Memorandum Office Supplies Kit
  • Pink Paislee Memorandum Stickers
  • Pink Paislee Memorandum Washi Tape
  • Pink Paislee Memorandum Photo Frames
  • Adhesive
  • Sewing Machine and White Thread
Trim a piece of Memorandum Snapshots paper measuring 4.7"" x 7" and adhere to front side of easel album.  Run a white and gold polka dot frame (included in photo frames pack) through the sewing machine, and straight stitch with white thread.  Leave ends long for distressed look.  Adhere frame  to the center of easel album.  Fussy cut "Capture The Everyday" clipboard from Pink Paislee Memorandum Cubicle Paper, Adhere to center of easel album (just on top of frame) with a gold camera paper clip (include in the Office Supplies kit).  Apply a "Hello" gold sticker from the sticker pack to a black label included in the Office Supplies kit), set aside.  Tear a red polka dot with white strip (included in the Washi Tape kit) and adhere behind black "Hello" label.  Adhere label, with washi to the easel just below "Capture The Everyday" clipboard.  Enjoy!  I hope this post inspires you to create your own back to school organization items!

Thanks for stopping by today, I hope you enjoyed my tutorial!
