Illustrated Faith | Lead Me To The Cross

This is a personal blog.  All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of  http://www.illustratedfaith.com/  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Illustrated Faith to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

I would like to share a new bible journaling page with you today that was shared on the Illustrated Faith blog, inspired by one of my favorite songs "Lead Me To The Cross" by Hillsong.

This song is so inspirational, and it brings tears to my eyes every time that I hear it, for I am reminded of God's love.  If you are familiar or unfamiliar with the song the lyrics go "Lead me to the cross where your love poured out, bring me to my knees, Lord, I lay me down..."  I could actually go on and on about this song, but the words "Lead me to the cross where your love poured out" always stops me in my tracks, no matter what I am doing at the time, or how busy that I am.  Those lyrics bring a certain humility back to me as I am reminded of God's love and his love for us.

There are many times in the bible where the words lead me come up.  I decided to do my bible journaling on Psalm 139:10 "Even there your hand shall lead me, and our right hand shall hold me."  We cannot see God, but he can see us.  If we stop and take a moment in our busy lives and ask for guidance we will see that God is giving us subtle hints along the way, and leading us in the way that we should go.  In times of comfort he is holding us, another symbol of God's true love for us.

Illustrated Faith | Luke 2:7

This is a personal blog.  All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of  http://www.illustratedfaith.com/  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Illustrated Faith to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

As Christmas approaches I am so in awe of God's love for us and how he sent his son to us. "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."  I am reminded by his love through mercies I see everyday.

I have been following along with the Naptime Diaries devotional all throughout advent season and I was so struck with pages 17 and 18 about the birth of baby Jesus.

Joseph and Mary did not have a convenient Holiday Inn or Motel to pull into, so they had to go wherever they could find a place to stay.  What I am struck by the most in this scripture is that the inn-keeper told them that there was no room "And she gave birth to her firstborn,
a son.  She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them".  Luke 2:7 How can we use this example in everyday life?  Do you want to be that inn-keeper that denies them a room?  Or, do you want to be Christ-like and
open your heart?  I hope that it is the latter, I know that I need to keep practicing it myself in my daily life and showing kindness to people.

I love how Shanna Noel has shared her approach to advent this year with us on her Periscope channel, and her genius idea of doodling over words in the Naptime Diaries devotional book.  I started out my journal using the same approach. The pages in the Illustrated Faith journals are just thin enough that you can trace over the creative titles in the Naptime Diaries devotional with a pencil, and then fill in the rest using a
fine tipped black marker.

I added paint to my pages next, and when they dried I added journaling, stamping, and embellishments.  On my second page I spelled out the title "There was no room for them at the inn" using stickers, and stamped the verse Luke 2:7

Illustrated Faith | Gratitude Documented: Love

This is a personal blog.  All editorial content and projects are intellectual property of  http://www.illustratedfaith.com/  I do receive financial compensation and material product from Illustrated Faith to develop my craft posts, but all ideas and opinions are my own.

Hi everyone!  I'm here today to share a post for Illustrated Faith using my Gratitude Documented Journal entry on love.  I have really enjoyed using my gratitude journal to focus on different ways that God is speaking to me in my daily life.  When I saw these two journal prompts my mind instantly went to one of my favorite verses on love.
“Love is patient; love is kind; it does not envy; it does not boast; it is not proud; it does not dishonor; it is not self-seeking; it is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrongs; love does not delight in evil; love rejoices with the truth; love protects; love always trusts; love always hopes; love always perseveres; love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” 1 Corinthians 13 4:8
In these versus Paul gives a clear explanation of love that describes many of it’s attributes.  We see what love is and isn’t, or what love does and doesn’t do.  I am so grateful for my home and the love that I have in my life.  They go simultaneously.  These scriptures are a good reminder of how to love others.  I’m placing these scriptures up in my home to serve as a reminder to my family that love should be present in every relationship that we have.

Scrapbook Circle | Take Two

Hi everyone!  I am sharing a post on the Scrapbook Circle blog today called: Take Two.  I am sharing my take on a previous layout made from Creative Team member Rebecca.  Here is her layout:

rk-sc-sept-1-931x1024

I loved the white background that Rebecca used on her layout.  I loved the mix of patterned papers and the geometric triangle shapes.

and here is my take on Rebecca's layout:

I still kept the white background and I used several triangles, just like in Rebecca's original layout.  But I moved my triangles around on my page.  I also, splattered black ink across my page and added stitching.  Like Rebecca's I added lots of little embellishments across my page using the October Mix Tape main kit and add-ons

Thank you for stopping by today, to see the full post,  please visit the Scrapbook Circle blog.

Sharing some recent publications

Hi everyone!  I must admit it slipped my mind to share these earlier.  I recently had a few layouts published in the Create: Sketches Idea Book 2013 that I would like to share with you.

Fabulous Friends Layout
This photo always makes me smile, our dog Roxy was just a puppy at the time and I am so glad that I captured this moment of her playing with my daughter Kalee.

You Are My Favorite Layout

I took this photo a few years ago of my nephew Derrick at a park on the Antioch piers. I love this photo.

Love This Smile Layout

I used lots of papers from Bella Blvd's Kiss Me collection on this layout, I love the color combo paired with this silly photo of my niece Sophia.

That's it for today, thanks for letting me share.  I think I am going to take my kids to the pool today, it is supposed to be 109 here.  Hot!!

Two Hearts One Love

The new Bella feathers are perfect for accenting wedding pages! They add such a unique look.
On this layout I used the pony, oreo-black and pickle juice feathers to accent my photos.
I love the way they look along with the contrast of the black and white photos.
