American Crafts | Kids

The new True Stories collection from Shimelle is bright and cheerful and perfect for kids' pages.  I used a phrase from Dr. Seuss, along with playful letters to create a one of a kind title for my kid page.

supplies: Shimelle True Stories (370712) - Salted Caramel paper, Shimelle True Stories (370705) Lemon and Ginger paper, Shimelle True Stories (370743) - Ephemera, Shimelle True Stories (370742) - Photo Overlays, Shimelle True Stories (370733) - Phrase And Alpha Stickers, Shimelle True Stories (370735) - Cork Stickers, Shimelle True Stories (370736) - Enamel Dots, Shimelle True Stories (370729) - Chipboard Hipster Multicolor Thickers, Precision Pens (62311) - Black .03, Mister Huey's (331064) - Inky Black, This To
That (AM617-13) - Adhesive

How To: Fussy cut letters from Salted Caramel paper to create title. Use a sewing machine to add machine stitching to each letter, leave threads long to create interest.  Place title on layout (but do not adhere) to figure out letter placement.  Once you have decided where your title needs to go, remove letters and paint white paint across background using a wide foam brush.  Set aside to dry.  Adhere cork building sticker and flag (ephemera)
to the bottom left hand side of layout.  Adhere title to layout, use a journaling pen to journal in the letter "O".  Flick drops of black spray mist against background. Print a small photo and adhere to bottom right hand side along with photo overlay, ephemera and phrase sticker.  Finish by embellishing page with enamel dots, ephemera pieces, and stickers.

Pink Paislee NSD Blog Hop!!!

Happy National Scrapbook Weekend! The Pink Paislee team wants to wish you a fun and creative weekend! Whether you are at home or at a crop this weekend, we would like to share some inspiration with you along with what this holiday means to us! Start at Pink Paislee's blog and let's get this party started!

Here's a layout that I created using the wonderful Atlas collection.  We were on vacation at Great America, and I just had to get a photo of the kids up on the swings!

What does scrapbooking mean to you?  It is a way to document all of the special moments that I have with my family and friends.

How did you start?  I was introduced back in 1996 by a friend.  It was mostly cardstock, stickers and decorative scissors back then.

What do you love about this hobby? I love that it is a creative way for me to express myself.

What do you do to "celebrate" memory keeping? I usually get together with friends on NSD or work on projects at home and look back at old scrapbook pages made.

Next on the hop is:

Pink Paislee is giving away the entire collection of Citrus Bliss!

Scrapbook Circle | You're So Pretty

Hi there,
I'm sharing my very last layout for the month made with Scrapbook Circle's April Let's Do This kit.

Big letters are a hot trend in scrapbooking right now.  I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut my title from Crate paper and then adhered it to my layout.   For texture, I added drops of white paint across my page and then added a photo of my sweet niece Olivia.  To finish off my page I added bits and pieces from the This way add-on and Love It add-on.  For texture, I added drops of white paint across my page and then added a photo of my sweet niece Olivia.

Stop by the Scrapbook Circle shop to pick up this kit and to see the reveal of May's kit!

Pink Paislee | Fringe Letter Centerpiece

I was inspired to create my fringe letter centerpiece while shopping at the party supply store and looking at decor for my daughter’s upcoming birthday party.  I was picking up tissue paper to create tassels and was immediately drawn to the popular fringe design that I spotted on pinatas in the shop.   An idea was born, and I decided to create my own monogram centerpiece for the party using the fringe design.

Trim 3 strips of  - Citrus paper, Squeeze paper and gold metallic foil paper each measuring 3″ x 12″.
Use scissors to cut fringe (slits) into each strip of paper.  Starting with the lightest color paper strip adhere to the bottom of cardboard letter using liquid adhesive, wrap around sides of letter and use scissors to trim of excess.  Continue these steps with each strip of paper, from the bottom going up in this pattern: light pink to dark pink to gold.  When the front and all sides are completed, you are done.  Use the letter as a centerpiece for a fun party setup and enjoy!

Another item that I created for the party were these fun DIY Glitter Swizzle Sticks, and I’m going to share with you how I made them below:
DIY Glitter Swizzle Sticks
Supplies-
bamboo skewers
scissors
glitter cardstock
1-inch circle punch
adhesive
Start by punching out 1-inch circles from glitter cardstock.  Trim bamboo skewers to your desired length. Each stick will need two dots, take adhesive and spread three quarters of the way around the edge on the non-glittered side.  Attach the matching dot, then slip in the end of a bamboo skewer.  Hold dots and bamboo skewer together until dry.  Add the swizzle sticks to your party glasses.  Garnish with lemon slices, pour the drinks and enjoy!

A fun variation on these swizzle sticks would be to use different colors of glitter cardstock paper to personalize everyone’s drink!
